Otherwise, I loved the story about how a lot of his productions came about. I love the idea of helping students produce songs, the one that was played was awesome .

Sorry that the computer program ate some of tracks, however (Lemme Guess, the program rhymes with “barrage land”.. I’ve seen it decide to eat stuff before)

Nice interview of a talented singer-songwriter and dear friend. Everyone in Elyria, the mid-West town of which he spoke in your interview, knew D.C. a creative force long ago, when he captivated Elyria High School theater-goers in “Man of La Mancha” and “Fiddler on the Roof.” As for me, I’m hooked: I look forward to his new CD projects with great anticipation, and I’m never disappointed. “A song is a puzzle that needs to be solved.” – very nice thought.

I absolutely LOVE Inaya Day. I buy tons of her music, and it was so nice to hear about her growing up in Brooklyn and going to the school of the performing arts.

She sounds like she has had a lot of fun and met some of the most wonderful people.. and I love the story for how “Movin’ Up” got recorded…

I really do like a lot of the syncopation that are in those songs. The guitar seems to just sync perfectly with drum-strikes. So much fun.

There was once an old and horribly in/appropriate “Buddy Cole” sketch (Scott Thompson on Kids in the Hall playing a very effeminate if not erudite gay caricature) where Buddy pointed out that Gay Men have a lot of the same mannerisms as Black Women. (“Black women say things like ‘sister’ and ‘girlfriend’ and ‘what’s her problem’… and gay men say things like… ‘sister’ and ‘girlfriend’ and ‘what’s her problem’”). I feel like Candy J is speaking to my inner black lady. Delightfully somber and thoughtful and sweet and polite and courteous… and then when it’s time to sing and dance… just TEAR THAT SHIT UP! Be as FUNNY as you wanna be, and don’t be scared to drop those wirty dords!

*happy sigh* Oh, she is a blessing. Thank you for having her on your show.

What a lovely interview!

I love Freddy’s motivations behind his music. He wants to get out there and enliven the world. Fame and fortune and all that would be nice, but is not the purpose.

It’s also cool that his partner is the Graphic Designer for Bear-a-palooza. It’s always nice to have the person snuggling you be in it for all the same reasons .
